What’s an Ozcanvexus™?
The OZCANVEXUS™ Puzzle System is a set of 2-dimensional geometric puzzles based on Uncle Ozwynne’s 26-character alphabet. Uncle Ozwynne, or “Oz,” as we call him, definitely has vexed us with his simple-looking but tantalizingly difficult puzzles. Hence the name, “oz can vex us.”
There are currently 25 known shapes that can be made with the 26 letters. See the Templates pages for all 25 shapes. The rectangular shapes are relatively easy. The other shapes are a lot harder, and some of the shapes have even more difficult solutions where all of the letters are used in their normal, upright orientation.
This puzzle is not intended for children under 4 years old, or anyone else who might try to eat it. The recommended age range is 6+ to 96. For younger solvers, age 6+, we provide several micro-puzzle templates that use only part of the alphabet. The full 26-piece puzzles are probably best for age 8+, depending on which shape is being solved. (The long, narrow shapes are easiest and would be the next step up for children.) Ozcanvexus™ puzzles provide a wonderful opportunity for parents to interact with their children in a pleasant learn-and-play situation. Some hints for this activity are included in the manual.
